I’ve spent more than thirty years behind a camera, making pictures that speak without shouting. I live somewhere between Boston and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and over the years, I’ve built a steady career in corporate, healthcare, and high-tech photography—not with flash or spectacle, but with honest work done well.

I got my start thanks to a scholarship to the Museum School at the MFA in Boston, where I first began to understand how images could move people. Later, I went deeper through a yearlong advanced photography program at the Franklin Institute. But the real beginning—the one that mattered—came in the military. I came across a point-and-shoot camera, and that was it. The little camera owned me. Still does.

Since then, my cameras have taken me to steel mills lit by fire, frozen runways with big jets, quiet farms, and noisy boardrooms. I’ve worked on assignment from the sweep of the Asian Olympics in Beijing to the never-setting sun in Finland, through Germany, the UK, and points between. I’ve photographed athletes, CEOs, farmers, and people whose names you’ll never hear but whose faces carried something worth remembering. It’s the kind of work that doesn’t make noise but has a way of showing up where it counts—quiet, steady, lasting.

So, in closing—I’ve never parachuted out of a plane. Never shook hands with Elvis. But once, a long time ago, I did share an elevator with Joe DiMaggio. (Ha.)

If there’s one thing I’ve come to trust, it’s that beauty isn’t waiting in some far-off place. It’s right here, if you’re paying attention.
